My Son Finally Pedaled His Tricycle

Curly – who has autism – finally pushed the pedals on his tricycle!  What a blessing, hey!

We were at the in-laws’ house eating dinner under the patio. Curly was off on his tricycle going up and down on the bricks – he wouldn’t sit down to eat. As usual he was using his feet on the ground to move the tricycle around. But then surprisingly he put his feet on the pedals and just before he pushed on he turned his head to see if I was watching him. There was a smirk on his face and as my eyes widened he pushed on and started pedalling.

I said a big ‘WOOOOOWWW’ and he smiled and pedalled for about 5 metres then put his feet down. Everyone applauded! We were so excited.

We’d been trying for months to get Curly interested in pedalling but he would snap at us if we tried to show him how to. So we let him take it at his own pace. Now once he’s mastered the tricycle we’ll work on his little BMX bicycle.

Congrats, my Curly. We’re so proud of you!
