We Could Be Hindering Our Children’s Development

So true, and now that I’ve watched this discussion I agree even more. What the heck are we doing to our children?

When we punish them or when we force them to share their toys, are we really doing them any good? If we’re doing all the thinking and negotiating for them, how are they going to defend themselves when we’re not there?

These are really good questions!!

I never ask my son to stop playing with his toys to share with others. I tell the others “When Curly’s done you’ll have your turn.” I also don’t ask other kids to stop their games and give my son what he wants, I tell him to wait his turn.

If you’re a parent, what are your views on this and the arguments in the above video?

Interesting things to think about. I think like everything else it’s a matter of balance. Sometimes you have to tell kids to share, sometimes you make them take turns, sometimes you let them work things out amongst themselves. It’s all part of socializing.
