My Son and a Memory Game

by Silly Mummy on October 8, 2012

The weekend turned out a little weird. My son was in bed with us around 7am Saturday morning. He came during the night, it’s what he’s been doing for a while and I need to find a solution for it. Once he’s up he refuses to try and get back to sleep in his own bed. And then he wakes up hours later, in our bed, but around 6-7, a time we’d like to use to sleep in! If you have any tips please save me!

Anyway, yes, he was in bed with us on Saturday morning. He started to make annoying noises as if he was bored, but I wanted to sleep. So I went on Google Play on my phone to download a new app to keep him entertained. I looked for a puzzle game and fell upon KIDS match’em, a game for kids to match tiles of animals or objects. I went first and showed Curly how to play. After about one minute he snatched it off me.

What happened next was amazing and scary. He flicked through the tiles faster than I did and solved the game without mistakes! He remembers the location of each tile. You know what I mean, right? You flip over a tile, then guess where the other identical one is. If it’s not correct they both hide again, and you keep doing so till you match all pairs. Well, it looked like Curly memorized them within seconds. I don’t know how, but he did. He said “I did it!” once he finished each puzzle.

And then that night, coincidentally, we watched ‘Safe’, starring Jason Statham (I love this guy). Jason, as Luke, tries to keep a little girl, Mei, safe from the Russians and the Chinese who both want to use her brain as a computer because she memorises and analyses numbers. I fell asleep and have to watch the final quarter of the movie but I think the numbers could be codes to a safe.

This movie and Curly’s ability to memorize, makes me wonder if his ‘thing’ would be memory. He already recites his books and movies. I don’t want to assume, and I don’t know what the heck I’m supposed to think. So I will stop here. Heck knows what I was thinking writing this but if you are reading this it means I pressed ‘Publish’.
